What your BMI means
BMI is weight in kg divided by height in metres squared. The standard WHO ranges are: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 healthy, 25 to 29.9 overweight, 30 and above obese.
BMI doesn't separate muscle from fat. Waist size is a useful second check: aim for under half your height.
